Want to be a Rock Star?
In our band workshops you will...
- practice songs together as a group under the guidance of a professional musician who is also an experienced educator.
- learn about ensemble playing.
- write a song together.
- hone your instrument/vocal skills with the teachers.
- make new friends and have a blast
- participate in a final concert on a big stage.
Has your child
ever dreamed of being in a real rock band? In
Step Up Music’s Rock Bands kids can make this
dream a reality as they get to rock out on
guitar, drums, bass, keys as well as vocals.
They will knock out the grooves, wail on solos, and work the mikes! They will put teamwork into action, as they take responsibility for their parts in the band. You will be amazed how focused and motivated your kids will be as they prepare for the final concert! Ages 7 and up, however, exceptions can be made with the approval of the instructor.

This is a
great place to explore which instrument(s) your
child is most drawn to, as everyone gets to
have a go at all of the instruments.
• No experience necessary
• Instruments provided for classes
• 8-week program at 55 minutes each band
rehearsal
• Participation in final
concert
ROCK BAND STEP 1, 2,
3...
If your child
has had prior experience on an instrument we’ll
step them up to the bandstand! They’ll learn
how to practice together and really listen, how
to execute more challenging rhythms, how to
develop a soloing ability. Rock Band
Step 1 encourages
all participants strongly to focus on one or
two main instruments to get the most out of
this class. Step 2, 3 etc. marks slightly more
advanced classes.
• Placement audition required (waived for
Step-Up Students)
• Must have own instrument and be willing to
practice
• 8-week program at 55 minutes each band
rehearsal
• Participation in final
concert
Please consult the Vallejo Greater Recreation District Activity Guide for times and dates of these classes. They are being offered in Spring 2012. If you would like to be notified, sign up for our newsletter.

The ability to make music is universal and everyone
has something unique to contribute to the group. This
boosts social skills and self esteem! Plus: studies
have repeatedly shown that music education equals
brainpower.
